Editorial Policy
At SeekaGo, our mission is to be the most trusted source for software discovery and distribution. We believe that users deserve accurate, unbiased information and safe downloads. This Editorial Policy outlines the standards and procedures we follow to ensure the quality and integrity of the content on SeekaGo.com.
1. Independence and Integrity
1.1. Unbiased Reviews
Our software reviews, descriptions, and "Pros & Cons" lists are written by our internal editorial team. While we may communicate with developers to obtain technical details, our opinions are our own. We do not accept payment in exchange for higher ratings or positive reviews. If a post is ever sponsored, it will be clearly marked as "Sponsored Content."
1.2. Original Content
We do not scrape descriptions from other sites. Our editors research, install, and test the software to write original descriptions that provide real value to the user, highlighting use-cases, features, and limitations.
2. Software Selection and Safety Standards
Before any software is listed on SeekaGo, it must pass our rigorous safety and quality checks. Our editors work closely with our technical team to ensure every listing meets the following criteria:
- The "No-Touch" Rule: We only list official, unmodified versions of software. We strictly reject any software that has been cracked, patched, or bundled with unauthorized third-party installers (adware/bloatware).
- Security Verification: Every file is scanned via the VirusTotal API. If a file is flagged by a significant number of engines or confirmed as malware, it is immediately rejected. We publish the scan results (VirusTotal link) and cryptographic hashes (SHA-256) on the product page for transparency.
- Legality: We do not list software that infringes on copyright, such as "warez," keygens, or pirated games. We only distribute software that is Free, Open Source (FOSS), Shareware, or official Trial versions.
3. Review Methodology
When reviewing software, our editors consider the following factors:
- Installation: Is the process clean? Does it try to sneak in unwanted toolbars? (We penalize or reject software that does this).
- Functionality: Does the software do what it claims?
- Performance: Is it lightweight or resource-heavy?
- User Interface: Is it modern and accessible, or outdated?
- Value: Is the feature set worth the price (if applicable) or the disk space?
4. Corrections and Updates
4.1. Accuracy
We strive to keep all information up to date. Software version numbers, file sizes, and compatibility data are updated regularly via our automated systems and manual editorial review.
4.2. Error Reporting
We encourage our community to hold us accountable. If you find an error in a description, a broken link, or a new version that we haven't listed yet, please use the "Report Software" button found on every product page or contact us directly. We aim to correct factual errors within 48 business hours.
5. User-Generated Content (Comments and Reviews)
SeekaGo values community feedback. We allow users to rate software and leave comments. However, to maintain a helpful environment, we moderate user submissions based on the following guidelines:
- No Spam: Promotional links, bot comments, and irrelevant text will be removed.
- No Hate Speech: Harassment, hate speech, or offensive language is strictly prohibited.
- No Malware Links: Users may not post links to external download sites, cracks, or malicious files.
We reserve the right to remove any comment that violates these policies without prior notice.
